Engagement FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions regarding technical engagements, fume hood testing, and consulting scope.

For peer review of laboratory drawings, containment schedules, or tender documents, initial technical evaluations are typically completed within 5 to 10 business days, depending on project scale and documentation complexity.
Requirements depend on the applicable standard, hood design, chemical application, and risk assessment. A commonly used design range is approximately 80–120 FPM (0.41–0.61 m/s), but face velocity alone does not establish containment performance. Appropriate containment testing (ASHRAE 110 / EN 14175) is essential.
Constant Air Volume (CAV) systems maintain relatively constant exhaust airflow regardless of sash height, whereas Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems adjust exhaust airflow dynamically based on sash position. VAV significantly reduces conditioning energy consumption when correctly designed and integrated.
No. Ductless fume hoods are suitable only where chemical types, concentrations, evaporation rates, and carbon filter adsorption capacities have been thoroughly evaluated and documented. They are not universal substitutes for ducted fume hoods.
